Stress Relief

Understanding Engineers - Take One
Two engineering students were walking across a university campus when one said, "Where did you get such a great bike?"
The second engineer replied, "Well, I was walking along yesterday, minding my own business, when a beautiful woman rode up on this bike, threw it to the ground, took off all her clothes and said, 'Take what you want.'"
The second engineer nodded approvingly and said, "Good choice; the clothes probably wouldn't have fitted you anyway."

Understanding Engineers - Take Two
To the optimist, the glass is half full.
To the pessimist, the glass is half empty.
To the engineer, the glass is twice as big as it needs to be.

Understanding Engineers - Take Three
A priest, a doctor, and an engineer were waiting one morning for a
particularly slow group of golfers.
The engineer fumed, "What's with those blokes? We must have been waiting for
fifteen minutes!"
The doctor chimed in, "I don't know, but I've never seen such inept golf!"
The priest said, "Here comes the greens keeper. Let's have a word with him."
He said, "Hello, George! What's wrong with that group ahead of us? They're rather slow, aren't they?"
The greens keeper replied, "Oh, yes. That's a group of blind fire fighters. They lost their sight saving our clubhouse from a fire last year, so we always let them play for free anytime."
The group fell silent for a moment. Then the priest said, "That's so sad. I think I will say a special prayer for them tonight."
The doctor said, "Good idea. I'm going to contact my ophthalmologist colleague and see if there's anything he can do for them."
The engineer said, "Why can't they play at night?"

Understanding Engineers - Take Four
Q. What is the difference between mechanical engineers and civil engineers?
A. Mechanical engineers build weapons and civil engineers build targets.

Understanding Engineers - Take Five
The graduate with a science degree asks, "Why does it work?"
The graduate with an engineering degree asks, "How does it work?"
The graduate with an accounting degree asks, "How much will it cost?"
The graduate with an arts degree asks, "Do you want fries with that?"

Math and Science will be taught in BM

KUALA LUMPUR: The Cabinet has decided that the medium ofinstruction for Maths and Science will revert to Bahasa Malaysia innational schools and mother-tongue languages in national-type schoolsfrom 2012 onwards.
The reversal of the Teaching of Math andScience in English (PPSMI) policy will be done in stages, Deputy PrimeMinister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said on Wednesday.
He however added that there will be greater emphasis on learning the English language.
English literature will be re-introduced, as will subjects on grammar and composition.
Beginning2012, students in Year One and Year Four in primary schools, and FormOne and Form Four in secondary schools, will learn Math and Science inBahasa Malaysia.
The change will not affect those in Form Six and Matriculation.
The two subjects will be taught in two languages until 2014 for other students, he said.
“The gap between rural and urban students has widened since PPSMI started.
“Only19.2% of secondary teachers and 9.96% of primary teachers weresufficiently proficient in English,” he said, explaining theGovernment’s decision to revert to the old system.
On efforts toemphasise the learning of English, the number of English teachers wouldbe increased by 13,933 -- retirees would be hired, as well asforeigners if need be.
Primary schools will also increase English classes by 90 minutes a week.
Therehave been calls from various groups for the policy to revert to before2003, when the subjects were taught in Bahasa Malaysia in nationalschools, and either in Chinese or Tamil in national-type schools.
Theissue has seen a rare alliance between Malay and Chinese educationists, who are against the switch, although there are also calls by many parents and entrepreneurs for English to be maintained.

Comment : I heart fully agree with the decision. Well, u see, we already have the English subject itself. So, why must we involve Math and Science in this matter? Does learning math in english will enhance your english proficiency? For god sake, it's all about numbers and science is all about concepts. To success in math and science for later education, it's very very essential to understand and grasp the foundations securely. That means, the subjects must first be taught in a manner that the students can understand easily. Tell me, how can this be achieved if we teach these subjects in a language that the students can barely understand. English is not our mother tongue and learning this language itself will take time and efforts unless these students have been speaking in english at home which is very rarely found in Malaysia. Many people say it will soon be a trouble when the students enroll in university since most subjects are taught in english. My god, are these people too ignorant to realise the existence of English subject in primary and secondary school. When the time comes for them to go for tertiary education, if they are really learning in school, 11 years of preparation of learning English is enough for that. Most important scientific terms do not differ much in both language and believe me, the transition will be smooth provided that they already have strong foundations and knowledges in that particular field. Learning math and science is not about language, it's all about understanding. You dont memorize to solve mathematical problems... and you definitely dont need to memorize to explain scientifical phenomena if you really understand what is happening.

Empires

Yesterday, i've made a big decision... Don't worry it's not a decision that will the determine the fate oh this word. Hehe... Joking. Oh well, I've just purchased a ps3 cd entitled Dynasty Warriors 6 : Empires. That alone costs me rm230. That's why i dont really like ps3. The original cd is effing expensive! All programmers around the world, fast break the code and make a ps3 pirate cd out of it! :P

It was a cloudy and peaceful afternoon, all of a sudden my mom asked me if i want to follow her and my sister going out to KK. Since I myself had nothing to do at home, i willingly answered 'yes'. First stop, we went to Wisma Merdeka because my sister is planning to cut her hair at a professional saloon. So while waiting, I took a stroll with my mom and ended up in Bata Shoes Shop. We then looked around the shop and I planned to buy a new slipper since my existing slipper is too worned out. After purchasing one, I went to a gamestop and surveyed the new arrival games of ps3. Nothing cathed my eyes, I then went to Tong's to catch up with my mom. Soon after that, my sister smsed my mom that she was done with the hair cutting. Without any delay, we met her at the saloon. I told my mom that I want to go to Citymall to survey some games. Good thing, she agreed with me.

After going through a lot of traffic jams in KK, we finally reached the destination. I went to a gamestop and asked the boss, "boss, dynasty warriors 6 empires suda sampai ka?". He answered, "blum owh, mayb bsok atau lusa kali tu baru sampai." We then went to the next stop and the boss answered the same thing. Finally, I reached a shop and the boss told me the game had just arrived. I could still see the games piling up on a table and he's selling it at rm 230. The adrenaline was running fast through my body while holding the game case. Unable to decide at the spot, I went to Oldtown White Coffee with my mom and sister. I was thinking, thinking, and thinking. "Should I buy the game or not?" that question just keep lingering inside my mind. Being unable to resist the temptation, I went to the nearest ATM, drew out some money, and went again to the shop and said "Boss, i want the game". To cut the story short, I was home.

Without further a due, I opened the case and started playing. My dad made a big noise saying how cheap you can purchase it on internet, but I was too busy playing to pay attention to his bubbling. I've already bought it. So what to do? Nothing. Just smile (I've heard the phrase somewhere... Where is it actually?) One thing that concerns me, this game is one hell of a fun. I've just finished playing the officer mode from 8pm - 4am continuously without any break and planning to continue it after I finish updating this blog. I guess the gamer side of me is really back now.

Transformer and Lord of the Ring

Well, basically i've just watched Transformer 2. It's a great movie indeed with pretty solid actions. I've heard so many fuss on how great the movie is. Yeah i heart fully agreed with that. But to nominate it as the best movie of this century? No, I think Transformer is not up to that level yet. Yes it is IF AND ONLY IF 'Lord of the Rings' was never filmed before.

I can still remember crystal clear every scene in LOTR although 6 years has passed since that time. So far no movie has ever beaten LOTR in term of its epic-ness. Remember in 'Return of the King', when King Theoden of Rohan charges with his army of cavalry into a hopeless battle while screaming "Death!!!"?? Holy crap that was just too awesome. Knowing that you will die, but still fight for the freedom of middle earth.... No words can explain the feeling. The bravery, sacrifice, sadness, friendship, loyalty, betrayal... It is a complete movie good enough to drive me emotional watching it. So far, it is the only movie that had managed to make me stood up and clapping at the end of a movie in cinema. So if you ask what is my favorite movie of all time, without second thought, i will say Lord of the Rings Trilogy. ;)

Anyway to those who still havent seen the Transformer 2. Go watch it... It's definitely not a waste of money to buy the ticket. Have fun!!

Me and Digimon

Many many years back, when i was still so naive and innocent...
There exists an anime called DIGIMON or in it long terms, digital monster.
I used to be a freak and fanatic of digimon...
Actually up to this time, I am still and always be a lover of digimon. :D
Back then, I was so eager waiting for sunday morning to come. Sitting in front of the television, watching digimon was once my routine every weekend.
The badass design of digimon never fails to leave me in awe. Screw pokemon!! (i hate cute monster) Long live digimon!! hahahaha
I wish i can go back to the past... sadly it's nothing but an impossible dream. :(

Susan Boyle

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RxPZh4AnWyk

I might be a bit outdated. In fact a lot! hahaha... Seriously i never know who the hell is this lady until i was given a link by my friend, Edgar to watch her audition in Britains Got Talent 2009. To those who are wondering, Susan Boyle was one of the contestants in this reality TV show and was awarded 2nd place in this season. Take note, she is actually 47 years old!! At first, i didnt expect much from seeing this video. However, things had gone beyond my expectation and I actually almost cried. Yes i was touched. Call me whatever you want but I dont really care. I had learned a great lesson watching this video. Commonly, we sometimes tend to judge people with reference of their outside appearance. I thought i was not that type of person until I saw the video. Without realizing it, i was actually laughing my ass off when Susan Boyle went out introducing herself to the judges and told them that she wants to be a singer. I was like 'wth is this women doing' at that time. To my astonishment, my mouth was shut tightly after this old lady started opening her mouth. That was absolutely stunning! I was speechless. I felt like i was somewhere inside a wonderland playing in a flat and calm playground with her singing as the background music. Ok i might sound a bit exaggerated. Hahaha. Moral of the story, never judge a book by its cover. Even a not good looking bread might turn out to be super delicious sometimes. Who are we to judge the creations of God (im not referring to the bread). It's very common that some people insult the other people just because they are not smart, or maybe they are not as good looking as the insulter. The question is, are we too perfect to pass judgment on these people? No we arent. Therefore, never ever look down on these people. In fact, everybody is equal in His eyes.

OMG... The last 5 months i checked my body weight, it was 64 kg. Then I checked it again last two months and it increased to 68 kg. Yesterday, I found out that it increased again to 71 kg!!! So here you can see that my body weight has been skyrocketing these few months. This is bad. Real bad... Something has to be done!! It's do or die.
